A celebration of life for Nina “Maureen” Mayer, 77, of Edgewood, TX, is scheduled for 10:00 AM, Friday, August 26, 2022, at St. Therese Catholic Church in Canton, TX. Services are under the direction of Hiett’s LyBrand Funeral Home.

Maureen passed away Wednesday, August 17, 2022, in Grand Saline.

Nina Maureen Hays was born on September 27, 1944, in Stillwater, OK, to parents, Leo Allan Hays and Sarah Gertrude Bradley Hays. She was raised in Stillwater where she graduated from high school. Maureen married Gary Lee Mayer on August 31, 1974, in Dallas where they raised their family. She worked as a bookkeeper for Minton Rosenhouse CPA firm in Dallas for over 30 years. Maureen and Gary later moved to Edgewood in 1989. Gary preceded her in death in 2005. She was a member of St. Therese Catholic Church in Canton. Maureen was active within her community and was involved in the Edgewood Historical Society and the booster club.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Leo and Sarah Gertrude Hays; husband, Gary Lee Mayer; son, Benjamin Jacob Mayer.

Maureen is survived by her son, Samuel Mayer and wife, Crystal of Edgewood, TX; grandchildren, Samantha Victoria Mayer of Edgewood, TX, and Kayleigh Lynn Ducworth of Colorado.
